Breast reduction (reducing mammoplasty) is an operation in which breasts are reduced to create more beautiful proportions in a woman's body. Although a large breast is generally considered to be an advantage for a female figure, an extremely massive breast formed for genetic reasons can cause significant aesthetic and physical discomfort. Due to large breasts, a woman can suffer from health problems: neck and back pain, spinal deformities, skin irritations under the breasts.
Breast reduction can not only beautify body shapes and proportions, but also strengthen self-confidence and facilitate daily life, solve previously afflicted health disorders.
It is important to know that breast reduction is not recommended for women who plan to breastfeed, as milk ducts may be damaged during surgery.
Breast reduction surgery can be performed in conjunction with breast augmentation.
What is worth knowing about breast surgery?
Before your surgery
Breast ultrasound is recommended before surgery.
You should tell your doctor before the operation if you have arterial hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, allergies, blood clotting disorders or other chronic diseases, you smoke, you are taking medicines or food supplements, slimming medicines.
We suggest you visit our preoperative memo page for more information.
The course of the operation
Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia, the duration of the operation is about 2.5 - 3 hours.
During the operation, an "anchor" incision is made: it goes down from the nipple to the bottom of the breast and is then continued in both directions under the breast. After the incision, part of the fat, skin and breast gland is removed. Nipples are also reduced and can be raised to the required height. The scars of the incisions last a lifetime, but usually within a year their color is almost equal to the color of the skin and is not clearly visible.
Patients are discharged home the day after breast reduction, and it is recommended that they return to work in about a week.
After the operation, it is normal to feel pain, tenderness and swelling in the chest - these sensations should disappear after a few weeks. It is recommended to wear a special chest bra for 2 months after the operation. Active sports should be avoided for about 3 months, it is recommended to sleep on your back for several weeks after surgery.
When breast reduction is performed, it should be borne in mind that scars left after surgery should be protected from direct sunlight and a tanning bed for one year (until the scars are red).
Breast reduction is associated with low risk. However, as with any other interventional procedure, complications such as bleeding, infection, pain, fluid retention, hypersensitivity, tissue death (necrosis), extensive scarring, allergic reactions to anesthesia may occur. All of these complications are usually avoided by following the surgeon's recommendations after surgery.
The risks associated with nasal plastic surgery are increased by smoking, obesity, chronic cardiovascular disease, diabetes, endocrine system diseases, and some other chronic diseases.
The first results of breast reduction are immediately visible: the breasts become smaller and firmer, it becomes easier to move. Within 2-3 months swelling subsides, the mammary gland lowers within 6 to 12 months. The final results of the operation appear after about 6-12 months.
It is important to know that the results of breast reduction are long-lasting, but breast size can change as you gain or lose weight. Therefore, in order to maintain the results of the operation, it is recommended to maintain a stable weight, eat a healthy diet and exercise.
You will find out the exact cost of
